Phase Two of my fieldwork occurred during 2014.  I visited 4 communities across Eastern Australia.  I selected sites for the fieldwork on the basis that these sites had experienced the diverse disasters of fire, flood and cyclone during the past 10 years.  Before undertaking the research I knew that one site had experienced more than one of these types of disasters.  When I began the research, I became aware that 3 of the 4 sites had experienced more than one extreme weather crisis or natural disaster in the past 10 years.

I spent 3 – 5 weeks in each community, interviewing community leaders and members about their experiences and observations of their community’s recovery.  Case studies of particularly effective actions and activities are being developed based on some stories and information gathered during this fieldwork.  Data is currently being analysed.
