Dr Moreton is currently working with the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) to support three communities across NSW: to develop their preparedness and resilience in the face of increasingly likely emergency events.  The FRRR and The Princes’ Charities Australia have provided funding through “Disaster Resilient: Future Ready” a program to help communities to better withstand the impacts of natural disasters.  It is our pleasure to work with the FRRR and with three local communities across NSW, to co-design the process of preparing for emergency in their community.  Building a community-led approach to emergency preparedness is both challenging and exciting.  This program is accompanied by an evaluation framework built on action learning principles surrounding its implementation, and together with the University of Sydney, we will learn as we go, about what works in communities, and how to work more effectively with local communities to enhance their own resilience.  This is definitely a ‘watch this space’ project.
